NBA rules could bench Kobe Bryant Wednesday

The Los Angeles Lakers will play their first game back from the All-Star break Wednesday, but the team may take the floor without 14-time All-Star Kobe Bryant.

"A new NBA policy could prevent Bryant from playing Wednesday after a neurologist diagnosed him Tuesday with a concussion from a hard foul by Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade in Sunday's All-Star game," the Los Angeles Times wrote.

The paper points out that the league's new policy says that "a player must be symptom-free for 24 hours and then complete a series of steps to confirm he was healthy enough for competition." It isn't clear if Bryant has gone through these steps, but he will visit with a neurologist Wednesday.
