Video: Defense is hard to come by in the ECHL

We're 16 days into 2010, have we had many "goal of the year" candidates yet? Does Rob Schremp's count even though Marian Hossa(notes) did it while skating and with Victor Hedman(notes) trying to play defense on him? Maybe, if only because the sample size is so small at the moment.

Anyway, with a new year comes this unbelievable display of porous defense by the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL at the hands of the Victoria Salmon Kings:

Scott Howes and Dirk Southern (real name and big fan of wine gums) did all the legwork for Adam Taylor(notes) who eventually puts the puck in the net. If you were counting, the puck went through four sets of legs including the same defender twice as well as Southern's.

In the end, Victoria doubled up Bakersfield 6-3 after opening the game with a five-goal first period.

This goal is like one of those plays on NHL10 when your button-mashing equates to an insane play that you cannot believe as it's happening and before you know it, a goal has been scored. Then it's time to watch the replay over and over again, something that the Howes-Southern-Taylor line will be doing for a long time.

Stick tap to Puck Buddy Brandon for sending that in
