There was no penalty on the play and there was no injury to Doughty on the play.
There’s also not going to be any supplemental discipline for Weise from the Department of Player Safety.
Brendan Shanahan, head of player safety for the NHL, tells Puck Daddy that the Weise play “doesn’t meet the standards of prior fines” for slew-foots.
He said he reviewed the League’s video on trips and slew-foot penalties this morning, and found the Weise play didn’t measure up. Here’s the NHL’s video on slew-foot penalties:
The last time the NHL fined a player for a slew foot was Mark Giordano of the Calgary Flames for slew-footing Antoine Roussel of the Dallas Stars in Feb. 2013. It was a $10,000 fine.
