The Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings aren’t exactly fond of each other, especially after Dustin Brown went hard to the net and injured Roberto Luongo in their last meeting before Monday night’s showdown in LA,
How contentious did it get? The teams combined for 103 penalty minutes in the first 31 minutes of the game, including instigator misconducts on Tom Sestito and Matt Greene.
One play that wasn’t whistled is one we imagine might get flagged by the NHL Department of Player Safety: Canucks forward Dale Weise slew-footing LA Kings star Drew Doughty at center ice.
Weise has already been suspended once this season, getting three regular-season games and three preseason games for an illegal check to the head of Taylor Hall of the Oilers. Doughty wouldn’t miss a shift.
So does the NHL hit Weise with something for this?
Sorta weird that a slew-foot at center ice was the only thing the refs didn’t call in the Canucks/Kings game…
