Wisconsin linebacker recruit charged with third-degree sexual assault

A linebacker who was supposed to be part of Wisconsin’s 2014 recruiting class was charged Monday with third-degree sexual assault. Dominic Cizauskas, a native of Mukwonago, Wis. who did not sign his national letter of intent on signing day, is accused of raping a woman in her dorm room on Wisconsin’s campus in December.

According to the Wisconsin State Journal, Cizauskas, 18, “showed up at the woman’s dorm drunk on Dec. 14, undressed her and raped her after the two had exchanged text messages.”

“I tried to make excuses trying to get him to leave,” the woman told police. “I didn’t know what to do. I was by myself, my roommate went home for the weekend and he’s a 200-pound football player and he had been drinking.”

The report also states that the woman told Cizauskas “no” several times.

The complaint alleges that the woman told Cizauskas that “she was studying for a final exam and tried to dissuade Cizauskas from coming over.” Despite her wishes, Cizauskas arrived at the dorm around 1 a.m. on Dec. 14 anyway.

Per the complaint:

When he arrived, the woman said, Cizauskas told her that he had drunk 10 shots within a half-hour. She told police that after he raped her he left about 2 a.m. but later claimed in a text message to her that she had agreed to have sex with him.

The woman told police that she had had consensual sex with him in the past but it had been several months and she “made various excuses to avoid having sex with him again.”

Cizauskas, a Rivals three-star recruit, committed to play for the Badgers back in June, but did not sign his letter of intent on national signing day in February. According to the Journal, Badgers head coach Gary Andersen “was hopeful” on signing day that Cizauskas might be able to sign with the Badgers down the line.

The 6-foot-1, 250-pound Cizauskas was the Wisconsin defensive player of the year
