Louisiana-Lafayette is cooler than your team because it has it’s own deejay spinning at practices

We’re going to go ahead and put this in the “things we never knew” category.

This week, Dr. Saturday learned Louisiana-Lafayette has used a deejay this spring to spin tunes and mixes during practices to keep the players and coaches energized during practice.

But after talking to Louisiana-Lafayette, it appears as though this has been a staple of coach Mark Hudspeth’s tenure since 2011.

Chris Hilliard, a student worker on the team’s video staff runs the “juice” machine that produces all the tunes during practices. Hilliard is also in charge of making sure the locker room has adequate music on gameday, during the pregame warmup and during the postgame, which I’m sure varies depending on the outcome of the game he also travels with the team and provides music on the road.

If you’re a fan of music, this has to be the coolest job in college football. Hilliard gets to make his own mixes and then put them on display for the football team and the coaches actually endorse it.

Of course a lot of coaches play music during practice and games, but having a deejay on staff is kinda awesome. So awesome that we think he needs a nickname. Here’s what we have so far: DJ Thrill Hill, Hillmau5 and Chriskade, HillMan 5000, DJ Hilly Hill, Ragin' Cajun.

We’re taking any and all suggestions at this point (and we're waiting to hear back from ULL to see if he already has a nickname).
