Kyle Allen reportedly was starting quarterback at Texas A&M's walkthrough

It's very possible that Kyle Allen will start at quarterback on Saturday for Texas A&M.

Coach Kevin Sumlin said after A&M's loss to Alabama that the quarterback competition is open and Allen was the starting quarterback during the Aggies' walkthrough per AggieYell.com. The quarterback that starts the walkthrough is usually the starting quarterback for the game. A&M plays Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.

Kenny Hill has been A&M's starting quarterback for the first eight games of the season but after he exploded on the scene against South Carolina, he's struggled recently. After throwing no interceptions in his first three games, he's thrown eight in the last five. Earlier in the week, A&M offensive coordinator Jake Spavital said the competition was wide open.

Against Alabama, Texas A&M's third loss in a row, Hill, a sophomore, was 17-26 for 138 yards passing and threw an interception.

Allen, a freshman, was a five-star recruit and the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2014 according to Rivals. He was the No. 7 prospect overall. He's seen time in four games this season and 23-38 passing for 264 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
