Indiana sophomore wide receiver Isaac Griffith was arrested over the weekend for drunk driving.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Griffith was pulled over early Saturday morning in Bloomington at 3:54 a.m. when an officer “noticed that his vehicle had its high beams on.”

After Griffith was pulled over, the officer “observed the odor of an alcoholic beverage,” according to an Indiana University PD spokesman. At that point, Griffith was arrested and hit with preliminary charges of “operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content above 0.08, and illegal consumption.”

A spokesman for Indiana football told the Star that the program is “aware of the situation and currently gathering more facts.”

Griffith’s arrest comes more than a year after he nearly drowned while swimming during a spring break trip with a friend and two teammates in Sarasota, Fla. Griffith was caught in a riptide while swimming, but a friend was able to drag him to shore.

After spending two days in a medically induced coma, Griffith was able to make a full recovery and played in two games for the Hoosiers last season.
