Charlie Weis can’t believe KU student paper not supporting his 1-3 team
Charlie Weis should have a lot on his mind. His team is 1-3 with its only win coming against South Dakota State. This Saturday the Jayhawks travel for a in-state rivalry game against a very strong Kansas State team.
Yet, Weis took time out of his busy schedule to criticize the students that put together the University Daily Kansan for having the gall to not lead cheers for his team.
Weis took the student paper to task on Twitter:
There's being thin skinned, and then there's bullying a bunch of student reporters who have the audacity to write unkind things in the newspaper as they train to be journalists. What apparently got Weis so
mad, via Rustin Dodd, the KU beat reporter for the Kansas City Star and Wichita Eagle, was a front page story with the headline "Road Kill Ahead," and a cartoon Wildcat hungrily looking at a Jayhawk hanging onto the goal post.
It's a pretty good illustration, if you ask us.
The issue isn't whether a student paper should be blindly supportive of its school team (it shouldn't), it's more about a veteran coach who has been in the spotlight with the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs, Notre Dame and University of Florida among other stops deciding to rip student reporters on Twitter.
You'd think Weis would have other things to worry about.
