    Video: DeSagana Diop with the worst free-throw miss in NBA history

    DeSagana Diop has been in the NBA since 2001. He's a professional that is paid to play basketball and, occasionally, shoot (if not make) free throws. Making 8 of 10 puts him at the top of the line at his position. Missing half isn't great, but it can be overcome.

    This, from Saturday's game against the Washington Wizards, cannot be argued away:

    We all make mistakes. I'll toss in one typo for every 400 words published. I'll confuse "than" and "then" in a tweet. Missing a free throw like this, though, is like me attempting to write the word "their" and instead typing "L:JKWEFKIYJBillyJoel^^%$^BLWF&."

    Which, admittedly, may happen someday. Hat-tip to Cameron Smith and SportsGrid.

      Ya think maybe they might want to have these guys practice at the foul line, maybe a little? This is ridiculous. All you have to do is foul them inside and you know they won't come away with any points.

      Can't blame him, he was out of breath and gasping for air. Not surprised he missed it like that. I'd miss that horribly too in that condition. Being at the free throw line stops the clock, best would have been to breathe in and out heavily a couple of times, and then try again.

      Yeah, bad miss, but having played at a high level in college, I know how fatigue can kill a free throw. All you have to do is look at his second shot. The dude heaves it toward the rim. He's completely spent, gasping for air. He didn't miss because he's a bad player or overpaid to play a kids' game. Try running up and down the floor with the speed and atheleticism as these guys for 40 minutes a game and try to hit a free throw. Good luck.

      Watch when they zoom in on him, he is heavily gasping for air no wonder the shot was weak. Just another example of poor player conditioning that should not be blamed on the NBA lockout. If you make six figures and are on strike you should keep yourself in shape and pay for your own trainers, etc.
