Adrian Broner going home for Sep. 6 bout

Former light welterweight champion Adrian Broner will fight next at home in Cincinnati against Emmanuel Taylor in the 12 round headline bout of a Sep. 6 Showtime card. Also on the card, former welterweight champ Andre Berto will attempt to get back on the winning track against a yet-to-be-announced opponent after a long lay-off and losing his last two bouts, and three out of his last four.

Berto has not fought since July of 2013, when he was stopped in the twelfth round by Jesus Soto Karass in San Antonio. As for the brash Broner, he last fought and won in May, earning a unanimous decision over Carlos Molina in Las Vegas.

Before that, Broner was humbled in a decision loss to Marcos Maidana last December. The Argentinian fighter went on to fight and lose to Floyd Mayweather Jr. via majority decision in Las Vegas on the same card Broner beat Molina.

The 23 year-old Taylor is coming off a decision win over Karim Mayfield two weeks ago in Huntington, New York. Early in his career, Broner fought frequently in his home town of Cincinnati but the Sep. fight will be his first time back competing there since 2012.
