Ziebell scores game-high 30 to lead Neenah in victory over Oshkosh North girls basketball

BOYS BASKETBALL

No. 5 (D-1) Oshkosh North 73, Neenah 59

OSHKOSH - The No. 5-ranked Spartans (5-2, 4-1 Fox Valley Association) were on upset alert early, trailing by two at halftime, but stepped up their defense in the second half to defeat the Rockets (4-4, 2-3) by double-digits in conference action.

Stevie Clark led North with 27 points and Zay Mitchell added 21 for the Spartans.

Omro 77, Amherst 55

OMRO - The Foxes (7-1, 5-0 Flyway) dominated the Falcons (4-5, 1-2 Central Wisconsin-East) in a non-conference meeting.

Keenan Rahn scored 20 points to lead Omro. Ryan Sxchoeni added 19 points and Mason Gruss had 12 for the Foxes.

Fond du Lac 69, Oshkosh West 44

FOND DU LAC - The Wildcats (2-6, 1-4 Fox Valley Association) were blown out by the Cardinals (4-4, 3-2) in a conference matchup.

Dylan Taylor led Oshkosh West with 11 points.

Waupun 65, Ripon 31

WAUPUN - The Tigers (3-5, 1-3 East Central) were limited by a tough defense, held to seven first-half points, on the way to being doubled up by the Warriors (5-3, 4-0) in an ECC matchup.

Berlin 79, Winneconne 59 (Thursday)

WINNECONNE - Berlin (8-1, 2-1 East Central) swept a boys-girls doubleheader, blowing out its conference rival Wolves (1-7, 0-4) to start a new winning streak after their two-point loss to Waupun last Friday.

Aaron Bartol had a huge game for Berlin with 22 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, five blocks and three steals.

Brock Wilde added 15 points, Carter Hess tallied 13, and Hayden Redington had 12 points with nine boards.

FOND DU LAC - The Wildcats (6-4, 4-3 Fox Valley Association) came back after trailing by three at halftime to defeat the Cardinals (2-8, 1-5) in a boys-girls doubleheader between conference foes.

Lilah Johnson led Fondy with 10 points and Brooke Butler added nine for the Cardinals.

No. 2 (D-1) Neenah 71, Oshkosh North 39

NEENAH - The Spartans (5-5, 1-5 Fox Valley Association) hung tough in the first half, trailing by one point to the No-2 ranked team in the state, but the Rockets (9-1, 6-0) blasted off for 50 points in the second half to cruise to an FVA victory.

Ava Hanson led North with 21 points and four steals.

UConn commit Allie Ziebell led Neenah with 30 points, Ellie Buss added 16 points (all in the second half) and Rowan Klesmit had 11 for the Rockets.

No. 4 (D-5) Lourdes Academy 65, Valley Christian 44 (Thursday)

OSHKOSH - The No. 5-ranked Knights (5-2, 4-0 Trailways-East) held the Warriors (5-3, 4-2) to 14 points in the first half on their way to a 21-point conference victory.

Hailee Bauer scored a game-high 20 points with nine steals and six assists to lead Lourdes. Delaney Ruedinger added 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and Ella Slusarski had seven points with 10 rebounds.

Anna Y. Giannopoulos led Valley Christian with 19 points and Anna E. Giannopoulos followed with 10 for the Warriors.

Berlin 63, Winneconne 54 (Thursday)

WINNECONNE - Berlin (7-3, 2-2 East Central) took down the Wolves (5-7, 2-3) to pick up a conference road victory.

Jane Hoffman scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Berlin. Emma Boegh and Callie Kurczek each added 12 points.

Kurczek also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and went 10-for-15 at the free throw line.

Grace Mitchell led Winneconne with 13 points and grabbed six boards. Jada Kaiser followed with 11 points and Taylor Rogers had nine points with four steals.

No. 1 (D-3) Waupun 57, Ripon 21 (Thursday)

WAUPUN - The top-ranked Warriors (9-1, 5-0 East Central) led by 29 at halftime and cruised in the second half to a blowout conference victory over the Tigers (2-8, 0-4).

Emma Resop led Ripon with nine points and five rebounds. Karsyn Bauman followed with eight points, all in the second half, four rebounds and two steals.

Lydia Aalsma scored a game-high 20 points, all in the first half, on 8-of-11 shooting from the field to lead Waupun.

Kayl Petersen went 9-for-13 from the floor to add 19 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double and had three steals and three blocks.

BOYS HOCKEY

Oshkosh 5, Waupaca 1

OSHKOSH - After conceding a goal in the opening period, the Ice Hawks (5-7) scored twice in the second and three more times in the third to defeat the Comets (8-4).

Alex Beck tied the game at one on a power play goal via an assist from Isaiah Koeppen and Owen Moran grabbed the lead on a goal assisted by William Beck.

Evan Neitzel scored the first of three goals in the third period, followed by Reid Polak (assisted by Mason Monhen) and Koeppen (assisted by A. Beck).

Adam Mace scored the lone goal for the Comets on an assist from Ryan Mace.

Waupaca outshot Oshkosh 40-18. Gage Bauer had 39 saves for the Ice Hawks and Gavin Hafferman had 13 for the Comets.
