New York Giants folk legend Tommy DeVito benched in Christmas loss to Eagles

It was one of the more pleasant surprises of the season when rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito revitalized the New York Giants offense and put some energy and pep back into the building on the backs of a let down season. The young rookie made quite the name for himself and entered himself into New York folklore with his unique personality and background.

All of that energy came to a screeching halt following a rough outing versus the defending NFC champ Philadelphia Eagles, which ultimately ended in the benching of DeVito and some late-game heroics by backup Tyrod Taylor to almost complete a comeback victory. DeVito was solid in his time as the starter, including a three-game winning streak.

DeVito played well enough to cement his future in the league to, at the least, a high-end backup and likely secured himself quite a pay boost once his current contract comes to an end. Whether DeVito starts again or not remains a mystery with how well Taylor wrapped up the second half, but we are all looking forward to the next time he steps on the field.
