Yancy Molloy leaving Clarendon baseball for assistant job with Tascosa

The coaching carousel continued Thursday with a major announcement in the world of high school baseball.

Yancy Molloy, who had been serving as the head baseball coach at Clarendon the past four years, is leaving the Broncos to take an assistant coaching position with the Tascosa Rebels. Molloy makes the jump from 2A to 5A.

A graduate of Memphis High School, Molloy's name had been whispered as a potential candidate for many of the head coaching opportunities this offseason. Instead, he'll take a role alongside longtime Rebels head coach Jason Patrick. In four years at Clarendon, Molloy compiled 55 wins, making the postseason every year.

Due to the decision, the position for head baseball coach at Clarendon is now open.

Molloy's move may have been the biggest of the week, but it was far from the only one.

  • Sanford-Fritch has announced a pair of new hires. Casey Timmons, formerly of Follett, will take over as the new head boys basketball coach. Lane Neely will take over as head baseball coach, his first head coaching position. Former basketball coach Kolton Jefferies has stepped away from coaching while former baseball coach Jonathan Lambright will remain at the school in a different capacity.

  • Tulia has found its next girls basketball coach in Roldan Trevino. He's spent the past two seasons as the boys basketball coach at Kress. Trevino replaces Jerry Cathey, who departed to take the same job at Childress.

  • Speaking of Childress, the Lady Bobcats have made a pair of hires as well. Amanda Wilson will take over as the head softball coach, her first head coaching opportunity as she moves in from Arkansas. She will replace Kalin Bently-Bradley, who left for the same position at Memphis. Misty Roark has been promoted to head volleyball coach after previously serving as an assistant. She replaces Grace Wells.

  • While Kress still needs to fill a void at boys basketball coach, it found a girls coach this week. Denise Reed, a Kress native, will return home after having been the head coach at East Texas Baptist University and Clarendon College. She replaces Cailin Neudorf, who left to fill the same position at Hart.

  • Randall has turned to a familiar face to take the reins of its boys soccer program. Steve Rodman, who had previously served as an assistant on the soccer team, has been promoted to head coach. He replaces Luke Strong, who departed to take the head coaching position at Caddo Mills.

  • Perryton has officially named its next head baseball coach. Brady Fletcher, a Perryton grad, has been promoted from lead assistant to head coach. He replaces Kelly Cowan, who departed to take an assistant position at Gruver.

  • Borger athletic director Dane Hamrick has announced that the school is seeking a new head softball coach. The new head coach will also have a second coaching position for "best fit." Whomever takes over will replace Katie Ammerman.

  • Pampa (tennis) is expected to announce a hire soon.

  • Randall (girls golf, baseball), Tulia (softball), Hereford (golf), Springlake-Earth (boys basketball), Wheeler (boys basketball), Clarendon (track and now baseball) and Kress (boys basketball) all have openings remaining.
