King and Queen of the Ring predictions
Unlike most WWE premium live events, we won't know two of the biggest matchups until Friday's Smackdown. We do know Gunther will represent the Red Brand in the men's finals and Lyra Valkyria will compete in the women's finals, but the other side of the bracket won't be known for a few days. Still, we will anticipate the winners and give you our outlook.
Sami Zayn vs Bronson Reed vs Chad Gable: Intercontinental championship
This match has been set up perfectly. Everyone has an issue with the other two opponents and the combination of the three of them have had nothing but spectacular matches for the past month or so. All three guys deserve a win here, Gable has been a great bad guy, Zayn is always a star and Reed has everything to be an old school monster. I won't be disappointed with anyone winning, but I think Gable deserves it here. Prediction: Chad Gable wins IC title.
Becky Lynch vs Liv Morgan: Women’s World Championship Match
Lynch is so good I think we take her for granted, and Morgan has been a fan favorite for years. I'm surprised they're making her the bad girl considering a huge match people want to see is her vs. Rhea Ripley when she returns. Then again, Ripley could be loved when she returns, so it might not matter. Lynch makes everyone look good and making Morgan look like a star isn't a heavy lift. I see Big Match Becks pulling this out, but the feud continuing. Prediction: Becky Lynch retains.
Feeling the bang! DDPY, created by Jersey Shore's Diamond Dallas Page, pays dividends
Lyra Valkyria vs Bianca Belair or Nia Jax: Queen of the Ring Finals
Belair is one of my favorites, not just her character, but her as a person. Whenever they interview her and she's not the "Est," she comes off as one of the best people. Nice, smart, funny, the kind of person you want to cheer for. Which is why it pains me to say she won't be in this match. If she's losing, it has to be a cheap loss, and Valkyria is a fan favorite so she's not stooping to those means, Luckily Jax will happily cheat! That will help her advance to the finals on Saturday where she will fall victim to Valkyria. She's a star, this is a great way to show the world how great she is and Jax will be hated on Monday, win or lose. Although I do think Queen Nia would get some mileage, so if she wins, it could be a lot of fun. Prediction: Lyra Valkyria is crowned Queen of the Ring.
Gunther vs Randy Orton or Tama Tonga: King of the Ring Finals
I was hoping for a Tonga-Jey Uso final to kickstart the Bloodline feud, but I'm happy I have to wait a little longer. Once Gunther won on Monday, I went from looking forward to the storyline to looking forward to the match. Either of these matches will be incredible, but I think we'll go with the veteran over the newcomer to WWE. You really can't go wrong with either of them, and we'll be talking about this match Saturday evening as the show stealer. In the end, Gunther will defeat Orton in a classic battle. Gunther is the best Intercontinental champion we've seen in decades and he'll be a great king. Prediction: Gunther is crowned King of the Ring.
Cody Rhodes vs Logan Paul: Undisputed WWE Championship
Paul is a guy I really want to hate, but I can't. He's so good. He's a fantastic wrestler and such a good bad guy. He's going up against a guy who is such a good, good guy. I'm still not over Rhodes beating Roman Reigns, but I have to admit he's been a fantastic champion. Fans love him, he's put on nothing but great matches since he's been back in WWE, and his first PLE title defense against AJ Styles was a match of the year contender, And while Styles is an all-time great, Paul can hold up his end of the bargain. But he's not winning. Prediction: Cody Rhodes retains Undisputed WWE Championship.
