Wrestling: Fan information, schedule, tickets for 2024 Section 1 championships

The Westchester County Center is ready to host the Section 1 wrestling championships.

With action occurring simultaneously across six mats, it is the biggest stage, to date, for the high school wrestling tournament.

The Division I (large-school) sectional championships will be conducted over a two-day stretch, on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Division II (small-school) tournament will be completed in just one day, on Saturday.

Here's what you need to know for the weekend:

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased at the gate, at the Westchester County Center box office. Tickets will be on sale for $8 each. Children aged 5 or younger get free admission.

There will also be a $10 parking fee to park at the Westchester County Center lots.

Schedule

All times are subject to change, based on the pace of competition

Saturday, Feb. 10

DIVISION I (LARGE-SCHOOL)

7:30 a.m. — Weigh-ins

8:45 a.m. — Wrestling begins (Round of 16, quarterfinals and consolation rounds through the blood round)

2:30 p.m. — Approximate conclusion for Division I, after the last blood round matches

DIVISION II (SMALL-SCHOOL)

1 p.m. — Weigh-ins

2:30 p.m. — Wrestling begins on three mats, while blood round is finishing up for Division I, then the tournament will take all six mats

8 p.m. — Approximate time for championship finals and medal matches, award ceremonies to begin after last bout of the night

Sunday, Feb. 11

DIVISION I (LARGE-SCHOOL)

9 a.m. — Weigh-ins

10:15 a.m. — Semifinals

11 a.m. — Consolation-semifinals

11:50 a.m. — Parade of Champions

12 p.m. — Championship finals and medal matches

2 p.m. — Awards ceremony

Who gets all-section?

Division I: The top six place-finishers land on the podium and are considered all-section.

Division II: While there are third and fifth-place matches, and a podium ceremony, only the Section 1 champion and runner-up are named all-section in Division II.

When are the NYSPHSAA championships?

The NYSPHSAA Division I and II championships are on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24, at the MVP Arena in Albany.
