World Cup 2022: American fans erupt after win over Iran sends them to Round of 16
The United States is headed to the knockout round of the World Cup.
Though the ending was tense and had fans sweating on social media, the Americans held on beat Iran 1-0 on Tuesday night at Al Thumama Stadium in Qatar to officially secure their place in the Round of 16.
Naturally, fans in person at watch parties throughout the United States — especially at the Power & Light District in Kansas City — and online were quick to celebrate the feat.

Pulisic hurt himself on that goal, and didn't return to the game in the second half. He was then taken to a local hospital for a scan on his abdominal injury. It's unclear if he'll be available moving forward in the tournament.
The United States will take on the Netherlands in the knockout round first on Saturday.
