Maribel Sportsman’s Club and Francis Creek Sportsman’s Club continue building wood duck, bluebird and bat houses.

This time, we had a new junior builder with us for the first time. AJ Ganoni is one of the youngest to help with the project, and he did a great job piling the houses as they were built.

If you would like some of these houses, give me, Bob Schuh, a call at 920-682-3106 to make a time to pick them up. This may be the last build for the spring, as I have quite a few houses left yet.

No local sturgeon spearing story this year

A couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to talk with Tom Lenz at the NEWGLSF (Northeastern Wisconsin Great Lakes Sport Fishermen) Banquet at City Limits.

Tom informed me there would be no sturgeon spearing story from his group this year. Ice conditions were just not safe, and most people stayed off Lake Winnebago.

Tom told us his wife, Debbie, made him promise he would not go out onto the lake this season. He said a few from their group did try their luck very close to shore, but none of them even saw a sturgeon.

I guess all we can hope for is thicker ice next season.
