Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern also notches an American Legion Baseball win over Groton

Yankton recorded 11-2 and 19-2 wins over Watertown in an American Legion Baseball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Watertown Stadium.

The losses dropped Post 17 to 12-13 on the season.

Yankton plated four runs in the top of the first inning in the opener and scored seven more over the final three innings to get the win. A four-run first and an 11-run third led to the second game ending after five innings.

Drew Ryken collected three hits and Cooper Grotenhuis, Mac Ryken, Rugby Ryken, Lucas Kampshoff and Matthew Sheldon each two for Yankton in the opener. Mac Ryken tripled and Sheldon doubled. Josh Sheldon struck out eight batters in the win.

Carson Mutschler led Post 17's attack with a triple and two singles. Drew Denzer contributed two singles and Ryan Roby a double. Jackson Maag suffered the loss.

M. Sheldon with 3-for-5 with a double and four runs batted in to lead Yankton in the second game. Cody Oswald, Jace McCorkell and J. Sheldon each added two hits to back the pitching of M. Ryken.

Dylon Rawdon finished two two hits and Kaden Rylance doubled for Post 17. Justin Remmers took the loss.

Redfield 12-10, F-H Hitmen 0-1

Redfield improved to 5-1 with the doubleheader sweep.

Redfield's offense in the opener featured two doubles by Elliot Komraus, a double and single by Kellan Hurd and a double by Peyton Osborn. Nolan Gall, Camden Osborn and Eli Morrissette each drove in two runs. Seth Siebrecht fired a one-hitter in the four-inning win.

August Kopecky had a single for the Hitmen (0-2).

In the second game, Keaton Rohlfs and Gall each doubled and singled and drove in two runs for Redfield. Komraus also had a double and Kevin Weller plated two runs. Owen Osborn tossed a five-hitter on the mound.

Layne Cotton finished with a double and a single for the Hitmen.

Redfield hosts Groton on Thursday.

Warner-Ipswich-Northwestern 7, Groton 0

GROTON — Ashton Remily scattered four hits and struck out six in six scoreless innings for W-I-N (1-0).

Andrew Bishop produced three hits and Quinton Fischbach drove in two runs and also pitched the final inning for W-I-N.

Logan Ringgenberg had three of Groton's five hits.

Groton is scheduled to visit Redfield on Thursday. W-I-N will host Groton in a rematch on Monday.
