Winter all-area: The top Savannah-area girls basketball players from 2023-24
In his 17th season leading the Bryan County girls basketball program, Mario Mincey and his squad had another strong season as they cruised to the Region 3A Division I title with a 10-0 record.
Bryan County went 26-4 overall and reached the Elite Eight for the second time in Mincey's tenure. It was the deepest playoff run of any local girls team, and Mincey earned All-Greater Savannah Girls Basketball Coach of the Year honors for his efforts.
The All-Greater Savannah Girls Basketball team also includes two of his players on the first team in Kayley Wedlow and Ashanti Brown.
The first-team selections will be recognized at the Coastal Empire High School Sports Awards show June 7 at the Johnny Mercer Theatre at the Savannah Civic Center, where the player of the year will be announced. The show is produced with support from Chatham Orthopaedic Associates.
