Winning Powerball ticket sold in NC is worth $1 million — but no one has claimed prize
A North Carolina lottery player scored a ticket worth $1 million — but hasn’t claimed the prize.
Someone is going to get richer after spending $2 on the winning ticket at a Circle K convenience store in Archdale, roughly 15 miles southwest of Greensboro, the N.C. Education Lottery said in a news release.
It turns out, the ticket matched enough numbers to beat more than 1-in-11.6 million odds in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing. Since no one hit the jackpot, the winner scored the game’s biggest prize, officials said.
That ticket wasn’t the only one that proved to be lucky in the drawing.
Another ticket sold in North Carolina also won big, scoring a $50,000 prize. A lottery player bought that ticket at Mina Mini Mart in Henderson, roughly 40 miles northeast of Raleigh.
The winning numbers in the drawing were 7-29-36-41-43.
As of 9:20 a.m. Thursday, the two prizes were unclaimed, lottery spokesperson Van Denton told McClatchy News in an email. Winners have about six months to come forward.
