Wil Myers plunked by own brother during Home Run Derby

San Diego Padres All-Star Wil Myers felt the love from his home crowd on Monday night when he took part in the 2016 Home Run Derby. Unfortunately, he didn’t feel the same love from his brother, Beau Myers, who plunked him with a pitch during the first round.

Of course, the pitch was purely an accident, but it almost became a running theme during the round as Myers was brushed back on a handful of pitches that followed.

The idea for the Home Run Derby pitcher is to serve up as many hittable pitches as he can so the batter can knock them out of the park and advance. Here though it looked like Beau Myers was attempting to own the plate. Maybe that’s just a brother thing though, as we’re sure this battle has played out many times overs the year in their backyard.

Unfortunately, the awkward pitches may have knocked Myers off stride. He finished the first round with 10 home runs, but ended up falling to Cincinnati’s Adam Duvall, who cranked out 11 in under three minutes.
