Why was Patriots' legend missing from Tom Brady's Netflix roast? Ask when he's in Naples

Why was former New England Patriots great Ty Law missing from Netflix’s The Roast of Tom Brady?

According to a Reddit thread, it's a mystery, where several commented how he would have been excellent.

But you’ll have the chance to ask this retired defensive back in person May 15.

That day, the former University of Michigan great heads to the new Oar & Iron to promote Corvus, the vodka brand he co-owns that's the official vodka of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, at which Law was inducted in 2019.

He’ll be at the new restaurant from 6 to 8 p.m.

Of note, the vodka is distilled six times and comes in plain, grilled pineapple and tropical fruit flavors. The flavored varieties have less alcohol.

Corvus's name takes inspiration from the Latin word for black raven.

But he never played in Baltimore (nickname of that city's NFL team).

  • Law spent 15 seasons in the NFL, 10 of those with the Patriots.

  • He was their first-round draft pick in 1995 and holds that team’s all-time record for interceptions.

  • He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2019. When my colleague Robyn George — a loyal Patriots fan who grew up in Rhode Island — visited the Hall in 2021, she stocked up on Ty Law merchandise.

  • Law was a three-time Super Bowl Champion, a four-time Pro Bowl player, and a two-time All-Pro during his tenure with the Patriots.

  • Other teams he’s played for include the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos, where he finished his career in 2010.

  • No player intercepted fellow Hall of Famer, Peyton Manning, more than Law (nine times).

Ty Law was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time all-pro who won three Super Bowls with the Patriots. He retired with 53 career interceptions.

In addition to his post-retirement vodka venture, Law is co-founder of Launch Trampoline Park, which has more than 26 U.S. locations, including three in Florida: Doral, Orlando and West Palm Beach.

Oar & Iron opened Jan. 9, taking its name from boats and branding irons. It's owned by New England-based RA Ventures, the team behind Apex Entertainment, Evviva Trattoria, 110 Grill, and the Florida franchise rights to Kelly’s Roast Beef (also at Founders Square).

Rob Luzzi, senior director of marketing for RAVentures, based in Westford, Massachusetts, said his company has a longstanding relationship with Law and that it’s the first hospitality group to carry Corvus Vodka in the Northeast and first in Florida.

“We look forward to seeing the Naples community come out to meet Ty next week.”

Law previously collaborated with RA Ventures on its 110 Grill concept.

If you decide to stay for dinner following the meet and greet, Oar & Iron's menu prices range from $15 to $23 for apps; seafood towers and special cuts are market priced; handhelds top out at $26 for Maine lobster roll; mains range from $19 to $48.
