Why MTSU women's basketball coach Rick Insell's granddaughter has been darling of Baton Rouge

The granddaughter of Middle Tennessee State women's basketball coach Rick Insell has been the talk of the Women's NCAA Tournament NCAA Albany 2 Regional in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, thanks to her bedazzled outfits, similar to what LSU coach Kim Mulkey wears.

She has been shown on national television and on social media posts for her fashion.

The No. 11 seed Lady Raiders (30-4) lead the No. 3 seed Tigers 36-32 at halftime of the NCAA Tournament second-round game.

Evie Insell is the daughter of MTSU associate head coach Matt Insell.

Mulkey, the nation's highest-paid women's basketball coach, has made a name for herself with the unusual fashion she wears at games.

Rick Insell has traditionally kept his grandchildren close during games, including frequently bringing them to postgame news conferences.

Insell has taken MTSU to 12 NCAA tournaments in his 19 years as head coach. Sunday's second-round appearance was the second time in his tenure that MTSU advanced to the round of 32. It has never reached the Sweet 16.

MTSU advanced to the second round with a dramatic 18-point comeback in a 71-69 win over Louisville on Friday.
