Why Boston Celtics great Bob Cousy is known as the ‘Houdini of the Hardwood’

They did not call Hall of Fame Boston Celtics point guard Bob Cousy the “Houdini of the Hardwood” for nothing — the College of the Holy Cross alum made a name for himself in the early days of the NBA.

Through his creative slinging of the basketball to teammates in seemingly impossible positions, using his elite court vision to break down opposing defenses decades before “court vision” was a focus of floor generals in the Association, Cousy became famous, perhaps even the first star of the then-still young league.

And if he was not the first star in the modern sense, he certainly was the first modern point guard.

If you are not familiar with his game or we just have you waxing nostalgic, check out the clip put together by the folks at the Wilt Chamberlain Archive YouTube channel to see Cousy in action for yourself.
