White Pigeon, Sturgis wrestling teams each win once

DECATUR — The White Pigeon wrestling team battled to a 1-1 mark at Decatur on Thursday evening.

The Chiefs beat Lawrence 75-0, but fell to the host Raiders 38-27.

White Pigeon received void victories against Lawrence from David Lane (106), Mazzy Lambert (113), Drew Johnson (120), Maddix Jancasz (132), Justin Kendall (138), Luke Hinkson (144), Evan Rudloff (150), Seth Miller (215) and Chaz Underwood (285).

Hunter Pant (126) won by pinfall. Blake Alldridge (165) and Caleb Lane (175) both won by pin as well while David Stanley picked up a 14-12 win at 190.

In the match with Decatur, the Chiefs won six bouts.

Lambert won his by an 18-3 score, earning a technical fall and five points. Johnson earned a void at 120 pounds.

Picking up a 9-7 win was Jancasz at 132. Hinkson won his bout by a 7-6 score while Rudloff picked up a pinfall win. The final victory for the Chiefs came from Caleb Lane with a 15-4 major decision win.

Sturgis splits as well

The Sturgis wrestling team finished 1-1 on Wednesday, the Trojans wrestled in Paw Paw.

Sturgis beat Vicksburg in the opening match, 39-34. Coach Brad Barkby said he was proud of his 144-pound sophomore Diego Munoz, who earned a pin to give the Trojans the win.

Sturgis fell in its second match to Paw Paw, 44-30.

Finishing with 2-0 records for Sturigs were Angel Alvarez, Aaron Castro and Kaiden Waldron.

Three Rivers wins twice

The Three Rivers wrestling team beat Paw Paw 63-9 and Vicksburg 65-11 on Wednesday.

On the evening, Ayden Keller (138) picked up his 100th career victory.

Finishing with perfect 2-0 marks were Keller, Kale Parr, Jak Monroe, Ethan Moreland, Carter Hensley, Evan Harper, Landon Moreland, Braylon Faile and Jaxon Smith.
