White Marlin Open leaderboard: Tuna and wahoo on top for day 3

Action picked up for day 3 of the 2023 White Marlin Open as tuna and waho dominated the scales and the wait continued for the tournament's first billfish to come in.

Here's a look at the leaderboard after day 3.

Tuna

First place: Chris Mentlik of Street, Md., hauled in a 247.5-pound tuna aboard the Fishlik out of Chincoteague, currently valued at $1,200,000.

Second place: Jack Roesner of Middle River, Md., reeled in a 203.5-pound tuna aboard the Full Service out of Ocean City, currently valued at $95,000.

Third Place: Robert Wagner of Blue Bell, Pa., reeled in a 199-pound tuna aboard the Instigator out of Ocean City, currently valued at $38,000.

Fourth place: Dante Soriente of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., hauled in a 178-pound tuna aboard the MJ's out of Cape May, N.J., currently valued at $220,000.

Wahoo

First place: John Harris of Boyertown, Pa., hauled in a 57-pound wahoo aboard the Shooting Star out of Indian River, currently worth $2,000.

Second place: Jeff Williams of Fort Myers, Fla., reeled in a 55-pound wahoo aboard the Captain Deadley out of Ocean City, currently valued at $32,000.

Third place: Francis Johnson of Mount Pleasant, S.C., hauled in a 40-pound wahoo aboard the SeaFix out of Mount Pleasant, currently valued at $32,000.

Dolphin

First place: Will McAteer of Kent Island, Md., caught a 31-pound dolphin aboard the Maverick out of Ocean City, currently valued at $34,000.

Second place: C.J. Walus of Newark, Del., reeled in a 26-pound dolphin aboard the Under Taker out of Indian River, currently valued at $2,000.

Third place: Harley Smegal of Saint Augustine, Fla., hauled in a 21-pound dolphin aboard the Hey Buddy out of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., currently valued at $32,000.

White marlin, blue marlin and swordfish

No billfish have been caught yet at the 2023 White Marlin Open.
