Where UNC football lands in Joel Klatt’s post-Spring top 25

The summer months are here and that means college football is right around the corner. Following spring practices, we are getting a little bit of a clearer view with rosters and depth charts.

For North Carolina, they are coming off a 9-5 season but lost four-straight to close out the year including the ACC Championship Game and Holiday Bowl.  They do return quarterback Drake Maye to lead the offense and will have some new faces on defense as they look for a turnaround.

Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt has recently updated his post-spring top 25 and right there in those rankings are the Tar Heels. Klatt has UNC at No. 21:

“They are at the top of this next tier because of one player: Drake Maye. He made some throws in the [Holiday Bowl] that not many people in the country can make. Maybe only Caleb Williams is the only other guy that can make some of those plays. That’s why we talk about him in generational standards. They added a couple transfer wide receivers to give him targets, and we’ll see if that pays off.”

That’s a fair ranking for a team that is projected to finish anywhere from third to fifth in the ACC.

The Tar Heels should be in most, if not all, the preseason rankings as we continue on this summer.
