We've reached the quarterfinals in District One Class 6A football. Vote for the winner

It's quarterfinal time in the PIAA District One Class 6A tournament and three Courier Times/Intelligencer teams are still going.

Again, we'll take a look at all of the quarterfinal matchups (which are all Friday at 7 p.m.) and also have you vote for your pick to wear the district crown. That title will be decided on Nov. 24 after next week's semifinals.

We'll also preview other area teams still going in the PIAA playoffs and take a look at the Germantown Academy/Penn Charter matchup this Saturday, which will add to the longest, continuous high school football rivalry in the country.

The higher seed in each playoff matchup in Class 6A will host the game, including the district final. Every higher seed won in the first round last week.

Garnet Valley defeated Central Bucks West in last year's district championship game.

Here's a brief look at each Class 6A quarterfinal matchup with our pick to win:

(8) Garnet Valley (9-2) at (1) Central Bucks West (11-0): This will be the fourth meeting between these two in less than a year as they met in last year's regular season opener and district final (both won by the Jaguars) and on opening night this season (a 17-13 Bucks win). Like earlier this season, it will be a home game for West, but the Bucks will be without do-everything standout Conor McFadden, who tore his ACL in last week's 27-12 first-round win over Cheltenham. Garnet Valley, which beat Owen J. Roberts 28-21 in its playoff opener, has won four straight games after a 28-21 loss to Strath Haven, the No. 2 seed in the Class 5A tournament. The winner here faces the CB South/Spring-Ford winner in next week's semifinals.

The pick: Central Bucks West 21-20.

(5) Central Bucks South (10-1) at (4) Spring-Ford (9-2): The Titans, whose only loss came against CB West, edged Coatesville 21-20 in their playoff opener last week by stopping the Red Raiders two-point run attempt in the final minute. As for the Rams, they had to rally for a 42-35 win over North Penn in last week's playoff opener after seeing their early 21-0 lead evaporate. A touchdown in the final minute gave Spring-Ford the win. The winner here meets the CB West/Garnet Valley winner in next week's semifinals.

The pick: Central Bucks South 17-16.

(7) Perkiomen Valley (9-2) at (2) Downingtown East (10-0): The Vikings, who reached the district semifinals a year ago, needed three fourth-quarter touchdowns to outlast Quakertown 36-26 in their playoff opener last week. It was much easier for the Cougars, who blanked Wissahickon 56-0 for their seventh shutout of the season. The winner here faces the Downingtown West/Souderton winner in next week's semifinals.

The pick: Downingtown East 28-0.

Souderton running back Houston Marshall pushes through the middle for a touchdown against Pennsbury in a first round District One Class 6A playoff game at Souderton Area High School in Franconia on Friday, November 3, 2023. Big Red is advancing to the quarterfinals after defeating the Falcons 21-14.

(6) Downingtown West (9-2) at (3) Souderton (11-0): The Whippets opened their playoffs with a 17-0 win over Council Rock South last week, a team the Big Red beat 7-0 in mid-October. Downingtown West's only losses came against No. 2 seed Downingtown East and Chester, the top seed in the Class 5A tournament. As for Souderton, the Big Red pulled out a 21-14 win over Pennsbury in their playoff opener last week thanks to a pair of late touchdown runs from senior Ryan Sadowski. The victory was the 20th straight at home for Souderton, a streak that began in 2019. The winner here faces the Perkiomen Valley/Downingtown East winner in next week's semifinals.

The pick: Souderton 24-23.

PIAA District One/Two Class A championship

Morrisville (6-5) vs. Lackawanna Trail (11-0), at Bristol, Friday, 7 p.m.: The Bulldogs won the District One title last week with a 20-0 win over Jenkintown in which junior running back Raymond Holman broke the school single-game rushing record with 268 yards and the single-season rushing record with 1,770 yards. Morrisville will face a Lions team that is averaging over 40 points a game while yielding fewer than 10 an outing. Last week, in their playoff opener, the Lions blanked Old Forge 40-0. Lackawanna Trail is also ranked No. 2 in the state in most polls. The winner here faces the Minersville/Marian Catholic winner in next week's opening round of the PIAA tournament.

The pick: Lackawanna Trail 27-13.

PIAA District One/Three/12 Class 2A championship

Bristol (7-3) vs. West Catholic (0-9), at Germantown Supersite, 4 p.m.: The Warriors edged New Hope-Solebury 7-6 in last week's District One title game on a second-half touchdown run by Kendell Cottrell to advance. They'll face a Burrs side that will be facing a Class 2A program for the first time this season. West Catholic, which did not play last week, has played four Class 3A programs, three Class 4A programs and one Class 6A program. They also faced Class A Steelton-Highspire (District Three) in Week Two and dropped a 29-22 decision to the 11-0 Rollers (who also won the PIAA title last season). The winner here faces the Trinity/Camp Hill winner in next week's opening round of the PIAA tournament.

The pick: Bristol 31-25.

Philadelphia Catholic League Class 6A championship

La Salle (6-4) vs. Saint Joseph's Prep (8-1), at Norristown High, 3 p.m.: The Explorers, who lost to the Hawklets 42-6 in their regular-season meeting, advanced to this spot by thumping Father Judge 49-14 last week. Prep, which didn't play last week, has beaten the Explorers in six straight PCL playoff games with La Salle’s last win coming in 2015. The Hawklets have also been to the last seven PIAA title games, winning five of them including three of the last four. The winner here plays the Northeast/George Washington winner in next week's PIAA District 12 title game.

The pick: Saint Joseph's Prep 19-14.

Inter-Academic League

Germantown Academy (5-4) at Penn Charter (3-5), 1:30 p.m.: While both teams have been struggling, it still won't dull the excitement when the Patriots and Quakers meet for the 137th straight year in what is the longest, continuous rivalry in the country that dates to the first matchup in 1887. Germantown Academy, which won a 28-27 thriller over their rivals last year, started the season 5-0, but has gone winless in four league games. It's been the same story for the Quakers, who jumped out to a 3-0 start before losing five straight. Penn Charter holds an 87-38-11 advantage in the all-time series. This is the season finale for both teams since the Inter-Ac, which is not part of the PIAA, does not hold playoffs.

The pick: Germantown Academy 24-14.
