Westbrook Christian baseball takes game one vs. Thomasville, one win from state title

JACKSONVILLE — Will Chadwick's clutch two out, three-run double in the fifth inning lifted Westbrook Christian baseball past Thomasville in the opening game of the Class 3A state title series.

The 11-5 win puts the Warriors one win away from a state title. It would be the second state title in four seasons, after they won the 2021 Class 2A state title. Game two of the series is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jax State, with an if necessary game three to follow.

The Warriors scored first on Monday with a two run second inning but broke the game open with a four run fifth inning that regained the lead they didn't give up. The Warriors bats' woke up in the fifth as they added four more runs, with two errors helping the cause.

Chadwick led the way with four RBIs while Noah Wright came in with two RBIs. Brady Carden scored three times and Bo Kilgo scored twice. Dylan Rainey picked up the win, pitching 5 ⅔ innings striking out five batters allowing seven hits and five runs. Bo Kilgo earned the save with two strikeouts.
