West Tennessee high school football game times on the move due to intense heat

This week’s extreme temperatures across the entire South have already made practice tricky for Jackson-area football coaches.

Now, the heat is affecting the start times for Friday’s games.

A handful of contests have already been moved from their customary 7 p.m. kickoffs, including South Fulton’s game against visiting Fulton County (Ky.), which is now starting at 8.

“My administration and I met and decided that 8 p.m. was more conducive to the safety of everyone involved when it came to the heat index,” Red Devils coach Eric Knott said. “Fulton County agreed.”
