Who led the league in scoring?

York Catholic's Jake Dallas led the YAIAA in scoring at 23.2 points per game this season and reached 1,000 career points.
York Catholic's Jake Dallas led the YAIAA in scoring at 23.2 points per game this season and reached 1,000 career points.

York Catholic junior Jake Dallas led the boys at 23.2 per game while Eastern York's Arianna Seitz led the girls at 20.0 per contest on the dot.

The 6-foot-2 Dallas had a breakout season as a sophomore (17 per game) but took things to another level as the undisputed first option for the Irish. He topped 20 points 14 times out of 21 games. He scored a season-high of 36 against York County Tech on Feb. 2.

Still, Littlestown's 6-foot-8 senior Christopher Meakin didn't make it easy on Dallas. The Frostburg State commit averaged 22.2 in the regular season. While able to dominate smaller players, Meakin continued to improve his outside shot and also topped 20 points 14 times while scoring 30 three times. His top mark of 35 points came against York Tech on Jan. 5.

Arianna Seitz topped 1,000 career points and led the YAIAA in scoring at 20 points per game this season.

Meakin has already topped Dallas in total points (505 to 487) since Littlestown has started the YAIAA playoffs while York Catholic doesn't start the District 3 Class 3A playoffs until Feb. 20.

Seitz led the league in scoring for the second straight season. The Clarion commit was always the focus of opposing defenses and struggled on occasion — scoring 20 points in 10 of her 22 games. But the versatile 6-foot guard still topped 28 points five times with a season-high of 32 vs. Exeter Township of Dec. 11.

West York's Faith Walker finished second at 18 points per game. The Duquesne commit topped 30 twice with a high of 32 against Shippensburg Jan. 29.

Who had the best individual performances this season?

Spring Grove's Avin Myers finished with career with a 41-point performance against South Western on Feb. 6.
Spring Grove's Avin Myers finished with career with a 41-point performance against South Western on Feb. 6.

Fittingly, Seitz and Walker also had the top individual games on the girls' side. They were the only players in the league to score 30 points and had the same season-high of 32.

There were 11 boys' players to top 30 points in the regular season — and Eastern York's Carter Wamsley made it 12 with his 31-point game against Central York in the YAIAA quarterfinals Saturday night.

But only two were able to reach 40 points. York Suburban's dynamic freshman point guard Nasir Barnes scored an even 40 in a 69-68 overtime loss to Eastern York on Jan. 30.

Then Spring Grove senior Avin Myers topped that with 41 points in the final game of his career in a 63-57 win over South Western a week later. Myers only made one 3-pointer and shot 8-of-16 from the free throw line but went 16-of-23 from the field to finish with the YAIAA's top mark of the season.

For those wondering, Myers came five points from reaching Eli Brooks' career-high with Spring Grove of 46 points.

Who made the most 3-pointers?

On the boys' side, Susquehannock's Brooks McKnight (58) finished ahead of Dallastown's Kobe McNealy (55), Littlestown's Zyan Herr (53) and Hanover's Ethan Herndon (53). McNealy and Herr are both playing in the postseason and will likely add to their totals.

On the girls' side, Northeastern's Lauralye Kennedy (68) has cruised to the top spot ahead of Hanover's Riley Stigler (56) and West York's Reagan Doll (54). Kennedy and Doll are both alive in the postseason.

Who reached 1,000 career points?

When Central York's Ben Natal reached 1,000 points in a thrilling win over Red Lion last week, he was the eighth player in the league (and third junior) to reach the mark this season.

On the boys' side: Spring Grove senior Avin Myers, Littlestown senior Zyan Herr, York Catholic junior Jake Dallas and Eastern York junior Carter Wamsley all hit the milestone.

On the girls' side: Eastern York's Arianna Seitz, York High's Ciarra Gibbs and Fairfield's Breanna Valentine — who are all seniors — reached the mark.

West York's Faith Walker is less than 40 points from 1,000 with the Bulldogs ranked fourth entering the District 3 Class 4A playoffs.

Central York's Greg Guidinger and Littlestown's Christopher Meakin both reached 1,000 points last season but continued to chase milestones this season. Guidinger became Central York's all-time leading scorer while Meakin is less than 100 points away from breaking Logan Collins' school record of 1,618 this postseason.
