Norwayne 38, Heath 25

A week after a breakout game against Canton Central Catholic, Dylan Smith took his game up a level against Heath.

Norwayne's two-way star had six catches for 146 yards and a TD offensively and three interceptions, including a 37-yard return for a TD, on defense to lead the Bobcats to a 3-0 record. Norwayne led 28-0 at halftime before Heath made it closer in the second half.

Jaxon Siegenthaler continued his strong start to the season as well, going 12-for-20 for 311 yards and three TDs without an interception. He tossed a 43-yarder to Smith for the first touchdown of the night and found Lucas Dudte for an 83-yard TD and Mason Saal for a 27-yard TD later in the game. Dudte also ran for a one-yard score.

Dillon Morlock (17 rushes, 64 yards) and Mason Moyer (15 rushes, 61 yards) led Norwayne's rushing attack.

Orrville 50, Akron Springfield 6

Orrville bounced back from a pair of heartbreaking losses to Wooster and West Holmes over the first two weeks, handling Springfield without a problem.

Sawyer Hamsher led Orrville's offense like he has all year, passing for 14-of-16 for 237 yards and three scores as the Red Riders took a 35-6 lead into halftime. Paul Hostetler had a big game running the ball for the Riders as well, scoring twice while rushing for 88 yards.

New Philadelphia 22, Wooster 13

New Philadelphia's defense shined as it shut out Wooster in the second half of the Ohio Cardinal Conference opener for both teams.

Julian Franklin was a bright spot for the Generals, rushing for 122 yards and two scores, including a two-yarder with 6:20 left in the second quarter that gave Wooster a 13-7 lead.

However, Keaton Fausel scored on a 37-yard run less than two minutes later to give New Philadelphia the lead back and Etnie Richardson extended it in the third quarter. Fausel and Richardson both went over 100 yards rushing.

Licking Valley 40, West Holmes 35

Licking Valley got a huge win, handing West Holmes its first regular season loss since 2020.

Despite giving up more than 500 yards, the Panthers stopped West Holmes in the red zone twice in the final five minutes, forcing a fumble and a turnover on downs to preserve the victory.
