Wednesday's Top Prep Performers: Basketball, soccer teams win at tournaments

Highlights from Wednesday in high school sports:

BOYS BASKETBALL

  • Austin Maziasz finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and three assists, Kayden Elsokary had 16 points and seven rebounds, Dante Deshautelle had 10 points and two steals, Danny Bao scored eight points, and Aidan Delavari added seven points and four assists as Westlake (13-3) beat Shalhevet 59-50 victory to reach the semifinals of the St. Francis Holiday HoopFest Tournament.

  • Jeremy Goodcase scored 16 points and Dylan Benner and Mathew Wilson each had 13 points as St. Bonaventure (10-5) defeated Menlo 53-49 to advance to the semifinals of the St. Francis Holiday HoopFest Tournament.

  • Seshsha Henderson poured in 42 points and grabbed six rebounds, Steven Molina had 10 points and three rebounds, Jadon Holmes had seven points and four blocks, and Josef Berger had five points and five rebounds to lead Oak Park (10-5) to a 62-54 victory over Chatsworth in the Santa Barbara Holiday Classic.

  • Blake Jones finished with 24 points and six rebounds, Alex Depatie had 11 points and three steals, and Miles Montero had 10 points and seven rebounds to lead Newbury Park (10-5) to a 58-51 victory over Santa Paula in the Santa Barbara Holiday Classic. Sammy Gomez scored 12 points, David Alvarez had 11 points, Sabino Duarte and JJ De Santiago each had 10 points, and Carlos Xicotencatl added eight points for the Cardinals (12-3), who were without five players.

  • Ryder Mjoen dropped in 28 points, Justin Rener followed with 27 points, and Kyle Hoffer finished with nine rebounds and nine assists to lead Simi Valley (10-6) to a 73-62 win over Lodi in the Desert Holiday Classic.

  • Ace Arnold scored 22 points, Devon Ware finished with 17 points, Chase Brosamle had nine points, Grayson Rothfield and Parker Hill each had eight points, and Nolan Suarez had seven points to lead Royal (15-2) to an 86-27 victory over Cathedral City in the Desert Holiday Classic.

  • Josh Castaniero scored 16 points, Tyler Hook had 13 points, Evan Dela Paz had 11 points, Spencer Clausen had 10 points, and Ty Chisholm added eight points for Camarillo (9-5) in its 70-61 loss to Edison in the Desert Holiday Classic Tournament.

  • Tyson Howarth had 16 points, three rebounds and two assists and Levi Oakes finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists to lead Moorpark to a 61-53 overtime win over Lancaster in the Hart Holiday Tournament.

  • Grayson Coleman and Tidiane Sy each scored 13 points for Calabasas (10-4) in its 72-51 loss to South Pasadena in the SoCal Christmas Classic at South Pasadena High.

  • Alex Klemz had 12 points and six steals, Carter Reid finished with 11 points and six rebounds, and Tyler Pickett added nine points and eight rebounds to lead Hillcrest Christian (8-3) to a 52-40 victory over South Hills.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

  • Mikayla Oliver scored 20 points, Kayla Lumas finished with 15 points, Sofia Salgado had 12 points, and Aiyana Gonzalez added nine points to lead Oxnard (12-3) to a 70-20 victory over Pasadena Poly on the second day of the Santa Clara Winter Classic.

  • Karisma Lewis had 17 points and four assists, Mimi Moon finished with 17 points, five assists and four steals, and Skye Thomas had 16 points and 12 rebounds to lead Buena (9-4) to a 57-37 win over Oakwood in the Santa Clara Winter Classic.

  • Bella Rico had 13 points and five rebounds, Sophia Fernandez finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, Sara Cosio contributed eight points, 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals, and Cynthia Lemuz had eight points and 16 rebounds to lead St. Bonaventure to a 54-50 overtime victory over Pacifica in the Santa Clara Winter Classic. Vanessa Medina and Jaydah Goins each scored 10 points and Romey Martinez had nine points for the Tritons.

  • Jillian McGillivray scored 13 points, Kira Jones had 11 points and Amanda Wang hit three 3-pointers for nine points to lead Thousand Oaks (7-7) to a 46-31 win over Frontier in the Santa Clara Winter Classic.

  • Freshman Emerson Martin scored 20 points for Camarillo in its 63-44 loss to El Camino Real in the Santa Clara Winter Classic.

  • Rio Mesa defeated Agoura 51-27 in the Santa Clara Winter Classic.

  • Foothill Tech lost to Chatsworth Charter 45-40 in the Santa Clara Winter Classic.

  • Kierabella Coletta-Todd finished with 27 points, 14 rebounds and four steals, Greta Heath had 14 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals, Dana Cruz had 12 points, Skylar Komatsu had nine points, and Kimiko Carmer had seven points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists as Newbury Park (13-1) defeated Poly-Sun Valley 76-46 in the West Coast Holiday Tournament at Burroughs High to run its winning streak to 13 games.

  • Aryanna Lopez finished with 26 points and Alyse Ramirez had 10 points for Santa Paula (9-7) in its 59-58 loss to Pilibos in the West Coast Holiday Tournament at Burroughs High.

  • Skyler Knight finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Emily Rea had 15 points and three assists, and Kai Staniland and Jessie Sebek each scored six points to lead Ventura to a 48-38 victory over Flagstaff (Ariz.) at the Gator Classic in Henderson, Nevada.

  • Emma Ange scored 17 points, Mathis Dritz had 13 points and Devin Feiereisen added nine points for Westlake in its 66-48 loss to Bonita Vista in the Bonita Vista Gold Crown Tournament.

  • Oak Park defeated Piedmont 42-35 in the first round of the Gold Division pool play at the San Diego Holiday Prep Classic.

BOYS SOCCER

  • Channel Islands took first place in the Black Flight of the Hart Tournament.

  • Pacifica finished first in the Red Flight of the Hart Tournament.

  • Rio Mesa defeated Van Nuys 5-3 on penalty kicks after the teams finished 1-1 in regulation and loss to Eastside 8-7 in PKs after ending regulation 1-1 in the final to take second place in the White Flight of the Hart Tournament. Against Van Nuys, Fredy Yepez scored the goal in regulation, Rodrigo Ambriz, Alejo Lopez, Jason Maldonado, Mateo Vargas and David Marmolejo converted penalty kicks, and Juan Trejo made clutch saves in the shootout. Against Eastside, Ambriz scored the goal off an assist by Marmolejo for the Spartans (8-6-3).

  • Oxnard defeated Foothill Tech 4-3 and Fillmore 3-0 at the Buena New Year's Eve Tournament. In the first match, Mariodavid Vega finished with two goals and an assist, Pabel Ayala had a goal and an two assists, and Justin Cruz had an assist. In the second match, Chris Miranda had a goal and an assist, Frankie Garibay and Rob Vargas scored goals, and Vega had an assist.

  • Thousand Oaks defeated Foothill Tech 3-0 and Fillmore 4-1 at the Buena New Year's Eve Tournament.

GIRLS WRESTLING

  • Pacifica finished second as a team in the Goforth and Conquer Tournament at Adelanto High. Shaire Anzures and Kaylee Hernandez won their respective divisions, Alysia Clayton, Samantha Salazar and Samya Bazile each took second place, Sakala Ale, Miranda Muro and Aileen Ayala all finished third, and Lizbeth Vargas placed fourth.
