HOOVER 51, AKRON GARFIELD 17 Olivia Yocum scored 18 points for Hoover as the host Vikings won their second consecutive game. Hoover jumped out to a 24-5 lead by halftime and never looked back.

HIGHLAND 60, PERRY 48 Breanna Haynes had 13 points for Perry but the Panthers fell at home to Highland. Marlee Pireu added 12 points for Perry while Riley Minor contributed 11 points. Kennedy Morgan was the leading scorer for Highland with 20 points.

MANCHESTER 38, ST. THOMAS AQUINAS 36 Manchester outscored Aquinas 15-8 in the fourth quarter to overcome a five-point deficit to win on the road. Mackenzie Westfall led the Panthers with 25 points. K’Lynn Carter scored 11 points to lead Aquinas. Paris Everett also had 10 points for the Knights.

CANTON SOUTH 42, FAIRLESS 40 Summer Hastings-Peterson had 16 points for Canton South to lead the Wildcats to a narrow win over Fairless. Steele led Fairless with 14 points. Snavely also had 11 points for the Falcons.

GREEN 63, COPLEY 56 Antonio Martin scored 24 points for Green as the Bulldogs beat Copley on the road Saturday. Brady Rollyson added also had 12 points for Green. The Bulldogs outscored Copley 37-24 in the second half to pull away for the win.

MALVERN 65, KIDRON CENTRAL CHRISTIAN 52 J’Allen Barrino scored 20 points for Malvern as the Hornets remained undefeated with a win. Also in double figures for Malvern were Mitchell Minor with 16 points, Jared Witherow with 13 points and Eric Swain with 12 points.

GLENOAK 71, OLMSTED FALLS 58 Ja’Corey Lipkins had 15 points for GlenOak to lead the Golden Eagles to victory over host Olmsted Falls. Reese Zerger added 14 points for GlenOak. Jaylen McElroy and Bryce Broom chipped in 12 points each for the Golden Eagles. Olmsted falls fell behind 23-10 after the first quarter and could not recover.

GREEN 64, SOLON 45 Brady Royllson scored 25 points to help Green to a win over Solon. Antonio Martin also scored 10 points for the Bulldogs.

CANTON SOUTH 70, ORRVILLE 50 Two Canton South players surpassed 20 points as the Wildcats won a PAC-7 game at home. Poochie Snyder led the way with 22 points while Tavon Castle added 20 points for Canton South. Will Sadler also scored 14 points for the Wildcats.

MINERVA 94, COLUMBUS ACADEMY OF URBAN SCHOLARS 24 Minerva jumped out to a 41-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in a win at home. Garrett Gonzalez was the leading scorer for the Lions with 26 points. Jayden Yerger also made four 3-pointers and had 18 points for Minerva.

MALVERN 77, EAST CANTON 69 Caleb Shilling poured in 35 points but East Canton came up short in the battle of the Hornets against Malvern on the road. Four Malvern players were in double figures including J’Allen Barrino with 22 points, Dylan Phillips with 17 points, Jared Witherow with 13 points and Eric Swain with 10 points. Jaedyn McLeod added 13 points for East Canton while Olly Schrader contributed 12 points.

Ja’Corey Lipkins scored 18 points to lead the GlenOak boys basketball team to a 60-55 win over Bishop Ready on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

LOUISVILLE 45, HOBAN 43 Lexi Wasara’s layup with seven seconds left lifted Louisville to a win at the South Range Holiday Hoops Classic. The Leopards (8-2) rallied from a seven-point deficit at the start of the fourth quarter and handed the Knights their first loss. Brooke Haren finished with a game-high 20 points for Louisville.

HOOVER 52, WALSH JESUIT 47 Aubrey Moore scored 17 points and Lauren Moore finished with 15 to lead the Vikings to their first win of the season at the Hoover Holiday Classic.

MARLINGTON 64, PADUA 53 Chelsea Evanich scored 27 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead the Dukes to a win at the Rocky River Basketball Association Holiday Hoops Classic. Evanich hit 15 of 17 free throws and also had five steals and four blocks. It was Evanich’s second double-double in as many days. She also had 28 points and 10 rebounds in Wednesday’s loss to North Ridgeville.

MINERVA 55, CLAYMONT 38 Lillie Stolztfus scored 16 points for the Lions, who outscored the Mustangs 28-15 in the second half.

KNIGHTSTOWN, INDIANA — The Massillon and Northwest boys basketball teams lit up the scoreboard inside an iconic gym.

Chris Knight hit six 3-pointers and scored 29 points to lead Massillon past Northwest 102-85 on Wednesday at Hoosier Gym, site of the 1980s movie "Hoosiers."

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: Vote: Who is the SARTA Athlete of the Week for Dec. 18-23?

The Tigers (6-0) jumped out to 54-45 halftime lead and outscored Northwest 28-14 in the third quarter to take control.

Ian Ziegler finished with a game-high 31 points for Northwest.
