Wayne County crowns 15 sectional track and field champions, sends plenty more to regionals

CONNERSVILLE, Ind. — At last week’s sectionals, Wayne County schools qualified 65 track and field athletes for regionals. County athletes earned the title of sectional champion in 15 events and had four one-two-three event sweeps. The Richmond boys were the closest to coming away with a team championship, finishing just two points behind first place.

Regional qualifiers needed to finish top three in their respective events or meet IHSAA’s “three participant standard” in their sectional final. The girls will compete Tuesday, May 23, at Franklin Community. The boys will compete Thursday, May 25, at Greenfield-Central.
