Watch: Viktor Hovland holes out for eagle on opening hole at 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational

It’s hard to start a PGA Tour event better than Viktor Hovland did Thursday at Bay Hill Club and Lodge.

Hovland bombed his opening tee shot 310 yards, and it just trickled through the fairway on the par-4 10th hole at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando. But his second shot was the highlight.

With a wedge in his hand, Hovland fired at the pin from 97 yards out. His ball landed just short of the hole, took a couple of hops forward before checking just past the flag and spinning back into the cup.

No putter necessary. An early big bird on the card.

Hovland, ranked 11th in the world, won the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas in December. He hasn’t won in the United States on Tour, but perhaps his hot start could change that this week.
