WATCH: Texas quarterback Maalik Murphy shows off his arm strength

Texas’ quarterback room is currently one of the most talked about in the country.

However, one of the quarterbacks among the group is being severely overlooked after missing spring practices due to recovering from an ankle injury suffered during his state championship game this past season.

Four-star prospect Maalik Murphy is viewed as a project for Steve Sarkisian as he is only a freshman, but one thing he is not lacking in is arm strength.

While rehabbing the ankle injury and preparing for fall camp to begin, Murphy is working with quarterback coach Danny Hernandez to fine tune his game.

Murphy may not have the best chance to start this season due to the fact he is well behind Quinn Ewers and Hudson Card, but he certainly has the arm talent and makeup of the quarterback of the future for Texas, should he choose to wait his turn with rumors that Arch Manning favored to choose Texas.

However, depending on how the quarterback battle goes this offseason, he very well could find himself as the backup and one play away from being the starter.
