WATCH: Richard Dent’s message to Robert Quinn after breaking Bears single-season sack record

Outside linebacker Robert Quinn made history Sunday when he notched his 18th sack of the season, setting a new single-season record for the Bears.

Quinn surpassed Bears great and Hall of Famer Richard Dent, who previously held the record with 17.5 back in 1984.

When the Giants abandoned the passing game for most of Sunday’s game, it appeared that Quinn wouldn’t get a chance to break the single-season record. And Quinn came close a couple of times before actually breaking the record.

The Bears Twitter account shared a message from Dent — along with fellow Bears teammate and Hall of Famer Jimbo Covert — after Quinn broke his record.

Not only does Quinn hold the record for most sacks in a season for Chicago, but he’s currently the NFL leader in sacks, passing up Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt (17.5).

With just one game left this season, Quinn has a chance to add to his sack total against the Vikings next Sunday.
