Watch: Michigan football holds up banners to block Fox cameras from showing sideline huddle

For the past month, the ongoing investigation into alleged in-person scouting and sign-stealing by Michigan has captivated the broader college football world.

As the Wolverines continue their push for a College Football Playoff berth and national championship, they’re apparently not taking any chances that their play calls might get stolen.

Facing a fourth-and-4 with 1:17 remaining in the second quarter against Maryland, Michigan staffers held up large navy blue banners with a yellow Block "M" to obstruct overhead Fox cameras from showing the Wolverines huddling on the sideline during a timeout.

Fox quickly switched to another overhead camera, with a Michigan staffer eventually moving over to partially block that shot, as well. The network then panned out to a camera that showed the Wolverines sideline, but not from overhead.

Michigan ultimately went for the fourth down from the Maryland 30-yard line and successfully converted it on a 12-yard pass from J.J. McCarthy to Colston Loveland. Five plays later, though, McCarthy threw an interception at the goal line, ending the drive and sending the Wolverines into halftime with a 23-10 lead.
