How to Watch: Florida baseball vs Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday

Florida baseball gets set to host the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, Feb. 25, in the second of a three-game weekend series at Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville, Florida, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Gators started the season with a three-game sweep of the visiting Charleston Southern Buccaneers — the first two of which were won via mercy rule — but split a home-and-home with the South Florida Bulls that saw both teams win the away game during the week.

The Orange and Blue prevailed in the first game on Friday night, 13-6, behind a solid effort by starter Brandon Sproat and powered by an offensive onslaught led by Cade Kurland. Can they do it again?

Cincinnati doesn’t have too many heavy hitters to start the season, but redshirt junior infielder Ryan Nicholson (above) is leading the Bearcats with a .462 average. He also has one of two team home runs, the other belonging to Griffin Hugus, who has a .429 average through seven at-bats.

It might be hard for this lineup to figure out Florida’s starting rotation. The Bearcats have 50 strikeouts through 36 innings and could easily add another 30 or more over the weekend.

Out of the bullpen, left-hander Alex Shea might be the most talented arm. He has a 6.00 ERA through one three-inning appearance this season but also has four strikeouts. — David Rosenberg

NOTES: There’s not much history between these two clubs. The only three-game series played between them came in 2006, and the Gators outscored the Bearcats 40-8. This weekend might not be as brutal, but it could get ugly. — Rosenberg

Prediction

GAME 2: Florida, 10-1

SERIES: There’s little chance Kevin O’Sullivan took Wednesday’s loss lightly, so the team should be extra motivated to blow out Cincinnati this weekend. The weekend starters should go deeper into games and rely less on the bullpen, and the batter should continue to hit well throughout the early season. — Rosenberg
