Cam comes home to a reeling 4-5 Panthers squad who has repeatedly squandered their options at quarterback. Their most recent flub, Sam Darnold, is set to miss around four to six weeks with a right shoulder fracture as comes off a horrific five-game stretch.
While many fans would love to see Newton under center as soon as possible, a start this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals seems like a bit of a stretch. But that might be fine, as it sets the stage for a real homecoming in Week 11 at Bank of America Stadium.
