COLUMBIA − South Carolina women's basketball sophomore Ashlyn Watkins dunked against Kentucky on Monday, taking advantage of a steal and getting Colonial Life Arena to its feet.

The dunk came with 2:37 left in the first quarter, after Watkins stole the ball from Kentucky sophomore guard Amiya Jenkins. She took her time on the fast break before gathering the ball and dunking, electrifying the Gamecocks' home arena.

South Carolina took a 46-21 lead into halftime.

Her teammates celebrated on the bench and took the game's next timeout to high-five Watkins.

Watkins became the first player in South Carolina history to dunk against Clemson on Nov. 17, 2022.

Watkins is a Columbia native and was the No. 12 prospect in the nation coming out of Cardinal Newman High School. In her final season with the Cardinals, she averaged 20.5 points, 15.5 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. She was named a McDonald's All-American as a senior and won the event's dunk contest.
