Washington county baseball, softball teams learn seeds, matchups for region playoffs

The undefeated Boonsboro softball team is Washington County's only top seed for the Maryland baseball and softball region playoffs.

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association announced the seeds and matchups for the baseball and softball region playoffs on Tuesday afternoon.

Softball

In 1A West Region II, Boonsboro (18-0) is the No. 1 seed and has a quarterfinal bye. Williamsport (8-11) is the No. 2 seed and Smithsburg (5-12) is the No. 3 seed. The Wildcats and Leopards each have a quarterfinal bye, and will play each other in the semifinals Monday at 4:45 p.m. Hancock (5-12) is the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Clear Spring (1-17) in the quarterfinals Thursday at 4:45 p.m.

In 3A West Region I, South Hagerstown (12-5) is the No. 2 seed and has a quarterfinal bye. The Rebels will host No. 3 Oakdale in the semifinals Monday. North Hagerstown (1-19) is the No. 5 seed and will travel to face No. 4 Tuscarora in the quarterfinals Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Lacrosse playoffs: Smithsburg is the top seed in 1A West Region II

Baseball

In 1A West Region II, Clear Spring (13-5), the two-time defending Class 1A state champion, is the No. 2 seed and has a quarterfinal bye. Hancock (8-10) is the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6 Smithsburg (5-10) on Thursday at 4:45 p.m. Boonsboro (7-10) is the No. 5 seed and will travel to face No. 4 Catoctin on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

In 2A West Region I, Williamsport (3-16) is the No. 6 seed and will travel to face No. 3 Francis Scott Key on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

In 3A West Region I, North Hagerstown (11-7) is the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 South Hagerstown (2-15) on Thursday at 4:45 p.m.
