Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels 'ain't a star quarterback yet'

Jayden Daniels has won a Heisman Trophy and threw for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns while having just four passes intercepted last season at Louisiana State University.

He was selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders.

But he turned heads on Wednesday with his humble answer to a question about what it is like to be a "star quarterback."

"I ain't a star quarterback yet," Daniels, also a former Arizona State quarterback, told reporters in response to the question. "I got a long way to go. I'm a rookie."

Daniels said he was just trying to improve.

"If you really, really want to be successful, you want to learn, you want to be a pro at the highest level, you got to take knowledge of people, learn from their routines," he told reporters on Wednesday.

"I just want to learn how to go out there and be a pro. And I'm just trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible."

Jayden Daniels part of hyped 2024 NFL QB class

Big things are expected from Daniels and the entire first-round NFL Draft QB class of 2024.

The Chicago Bears took the University of Southern California QB Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick before the Commanders chose Daniels.

North Carolina's Drake Maye went to the New England Patriots at No. 3, with the Atlanta Falcons selecting Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. at No. 8.

The Minnesota Vikings took Michigan's J.J. McCarthy at No. 10 and the Denver Broncos selected Oregon's Bo Nix at No. 12, tying an NFL record for most quarterbacks selected in the first round with six.

How many of them will be "stars"?
