Warriors Stephen Curry impressed with ex-Indiana basketball star Trayce Jackson-Davis

As the NBA season has gone on, former Indiana basketball star Trayce Jackson-Davis has impressed more and more people.

That list includes his Golden State Warriors teammate, two-time MVP Stephen Curry. After Jackson-Davis scored 10 points and grabbed 15 rebounds against the Washington Wizards on Friday, Anthony Slater of The Athletic asked Curry about Jackson-Davis, who was picked 57th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft.

"I knew about him," Curry said. "I watched college basketball and a couple of Indiana games."

In each of the last two games, Jackson-Davis has recorded a double-double, snagged at least 13 rebounds and shot better than 70%, according to OptaSTATS on X. The only other player to accomplish that feat off the bench in back-to-back games? Jackson-Davis' father, former Pacers All-Star Dale Davis.

"There's like a narrative around an experienced college player coming in that he might be able to give you something, but you never really know how it's going to play out," Curry said. "Just the strengths of what he's been doing for us, the way he's impacting the game, there was hope that that's what it would look like. I'm glad he's proving that."

Curry said Jackson-Davis plays with confidence.

"He's just playing hard," Curry said. "I love when young guys do that. That's what they can control and it's turning into impact. It's a great advantage that he has and he's using it."

Slater also interviewed Jackson-Davis after the game against the Wizards.

"I was very surprised honestly," Jackson-Davis said of being drafted 57th overall. "I felt like my senior year in college I added a lot to my game, whether it be the passing, the blocking shots, rebounding at a high level and finishing."
