It's time to vote for the Detroit Free Press Prep Athlete of the Week, presented by the Detroit Area Honda Dealers.
During the football season, we'll focus on the gridiron. Our staff of reporters are scouring the state for the top performances each week, and every week we'll provide you five players for you to vote on.
By Friday morning, we'll publish the player you voted on to be the new Prep Athlete of the Week.
Here are the nominees:
JJ Claudio, Pontiac: The freshman scored 32 points in a Pontiac’s 80-38 victory over Hazel Park.
Sam Dillard, Fenton: The senior scored 30 points as Fenton defeated Temperance Bedford, 82-48.
Tayshawn Hicks, Detroit Pershing: The junior scored 30 points with seven rebounds in Pershing’s 79-55 victory over Detroit Cody.
Jonathan Sanderson, Saline: The sophomore scored 40 points in Saline’s 64-54 victory over Plymouth Salem.
Elijah Williams, Birmingham Brother Rice: The sophomore scored 29 points with seven rebounds and two blocked shots in Rice’s 75-66 victory over Ferndale.
