Vandebilt's Coleman, Ellender's Crockem voted Barker Honda Athletes of the Week
The ballots have closed, and this week's Barker Honda Athlete of the Week in Houma- and Thibodaux-area high school sports are track and field athletes Jaylon Coleman of Vandebilt Catholic for the boys and Myi'Laili Crockem of A.J. Ellender for the girls.
Coleman won the 100-meter dash at the South Terrebonne Gator Relay with his time of 10.8 seconds. He received 28.6% of the vote, but one of the closest votes ever separated the top three. Coleman beat out runner-up Hunter Dulock of Terrebonne tennis by just four votes, with Dulock beating third-place Aden Dishman of Central Lafourche tennis by just one vote.
Crockem, who won the 200-meter dash at the Gator Relay with her time of 25.52 seconds, won much more comfortably. She received 46.6% of the vote, well ahead of runner-up Isabella Guidry of Terrebonne tennis and third-place Mhallayah Picou of St. James softball.
