Tulare County athlete of the week: Redwood's Brooklyn Tayo
Redwood girls basketball player Brooklyn Tayo was voted by readers as the Visalia Times-Delta Tulare County high school athlete of the week.
In an online poll that closed on Dec. 8, Tayo received 11,750 votes, or a 64.6% majority, of the 18,248 responses.
Tayo netted 12 points with three rebounds, an assist and seven steals in a 55-51 win versus Sanger.

Here are the choices for the week of Dec. 4-8:
Isaiah Colunga, football, Strathmore: Colunga caught three passes for 107 yards and a touchdown as the Spartans won a state regional title.
Bryson Donelson, football, Central Valley Christian: Donelson accounted for more than 500 all-purpose yards, including 377 yards rushing, and scored four touchdowns to lead the Cavaliers to a state regional championship.

Kenny Jackson, football, Mission Oak: Jackson rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown in the Hawks' state regional championship victory. He also returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.
Josiah Ochoa, boys basketball, Dinuba: Ochoa drained 23 points, sinking seven triples in a 77-47 win over Enochs.
Annette Lopez Gonzalez, girls basketball, Tulare Western: The junior shooting guard had 17 points, three rebounds, three assists, a steal and block in a 60-44 win over Porterville.
Brooklyn Tayo, girls basketball, Redwood: Tayo netted 12 points with three rebounds, an assist and seven steals in a 55-51 win versus Sanger.
Kamryn Westra, girls basketball, Central Valley Christian: Westra had a double-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two assists as the Cavaliers beat Fresno Christian 63-21.
Isabella Zepeda, girls basketball, Mission Oak: Zepeda dropped a team-high 19 points as the Hawks topped Hanford West 62-23.
Nominations are based on information available to the Times-Delta.
All high school varsity players from Tulare County can be on the ballot. Nominations must be received for consideration by Monday morning following that week's games.
