Mishawaka's Lilly St. Clair wins South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week vote

Congratulations to Mishawaka junior Lilly St. Clair on winning the South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week vote for April 29 - May 5, 2024. St. Clair and Clay senior Jessica Cleveland battled for the lead throughout the poll, with St. Clair finishing with 46% of the vote and Cleveland 40%.

St. Clair pitched 17 innings across three games this week, not allowing a run and striking out 14 in three wins. The junior also led the Cavemen with four doubles and six RBI in six games total this week, all of which were wins for Mishawaka.

RUNNER-UP: South Bend Clay softball senior Jessica Cleveland

It was a busy week for Cleveland, who ended up going 3-1 in the pitcher's circle. She threw a combined 25 innings, allowing just three runs (all to Adams) and recording 52 strikeouts. The highlight was a no-hitter against Washington Monday, striking out 15 batters and only surrendering one walk in a 13-0 win over the Panthers.

OTHER NOMINEES

Fairfield baseball senior Landon Miller

Miller kept up his sensational year on the pitching mound by picking up two wins this week, combining to go 13 innings, striking out 16 batters and only allowing four runs. The Falcons won 10-1 over Eastside and 5-3 against Jimtown in those two games, running Miller's record to 8-0 with a 0.81 ERA for the season.

New Prairie baseball senior Tyson Greenwood

Greenwood put together a strong week, totaling eight hits and nine RBI in four contests for the Cougars. The highlight, though, came on the mound, as he pitched a complete game against Jimtown Wednesday, allowing just three hits and striking out 11 in an 8-0 victory.

South Bend Saint Joseph boys golf junior Thomas Raster

Raster was instrumental in four wins for the Huskies this week, two in nine-hole matches and two invitationals. He shot 35 and 36 in the nine-hole contests, followed by a 76 at the Benny Leonard Memorial Tournament Friday and a 74 at the Concord Invitational Saturday. He was the low player for Saint Joe in both invites, helping it win the team titles.
